Taking Effective Screenshots ​

Screenshots make communication faster and clearer — especially when sharing results, issues, or setup steps. They help others understand your work instantly without long explanations.

On Windows ​

Press

WIN + Shift + S

Drag to select the area. The image is copied to your clipboard — paste it directly into Slack, Obsidian, or FigJam. To save it, open the Snipping Tool and press Ctrl + S.

On macOS ​

Press

CMD + Shift + 4

To copy to clipboard, hold Control while capturing:

CMD + Shift + Control + 4

Then paste it into Slack or Obsidian.

Tips ​

  • Highlight only what’s relevant.
  • Keep the screen clean and focused.
  • Add a short note when sharing (“mesh refinement result” or “boundary setup”).

Clear screenshots make your updates visual, concise, and easy for the team to follow.
