An auto-adaptive sub-stepping algorithm for phase-field modeling of brittle fracture

An algorithm is developed to auto-adaptively adjust the displacement step size. Proposed algorithm allows step size that may vary by even three orders of magnitude. This algorithm can accurately capture the response of the system. Substantial reduction in CPU time for complete analysis.
