Variational Principles

Until my Master’s degree and early industry years, I only understood finite element analysis through matrices, stiffness assembly, and numerical procedures. When I was introduced to variational formulations during my PhD, I suddenly saw mechanics from a completely different perspective where physics, energy minimization, and computation were deeply connected.

Variational Principles

Variational principles became the mathematical foundation that allowed me to think beyond conventional finite element workflows. They shaped the way I approached fracture, topology optimization, and multi-physics formulations while constantly searching for more efficient and scalable computational methods.
